Notes:india announced a usd 250 million line of credit to kenya for modernisation of its agricultural sector as prime minister narendra modi and kenyan president william samoei ruto agreed to enhance bilateral ties in areas of defence, trade, energy, digital public infrastructure and healthcare. the two sides signed five pacts providing for cooperation in a range of areas including sports, education and digital solution, and unveiled a joint vision document to scale up maritime engagement in the indian ocean region. the kenyan side offered to provide land to indian companies and institutions for cultivation of crops, including millets.

“Notes: India saw a rise of 24 per cent in cybercrimes registered in 2022 compared to 2021, whereas other categories of crime – including economic offences (11%), crimes against senior citizens (9%), against women (4%), too recorded an increase, as per the latest data released by the national crime records bureau (ncrb). according to the report ‘crime in india’, 65,893 cases were registered under cybercrime, showing an increase of 24.4 per cent compared to 52,974 cases in 2021. according to the ncrb data, a total of 1,93,385 cases were registered under economic offences, showing an increase of 11.1 per cent compared to 1,74,013 cases in 2021.”

Notes:in order to encourage the spatial planning by the gram panchayat, ministry of panchayati raj had launched the geographic information system (gis) application “gram manchitra”. this application facilitates and supports gram panchayats to perform planning at gram panchayat level using geo-spatial technology. it provides a unified geo spatial platform to better visualize the various developmental works to be taken up across the different sectors and provide a decision support system for gram panchayat development plan (gpdp). ministry has launched mactionsoft, a mobile based solution to help in capturing photos with geo-tags (gps coordinates) for the works which have asset as an output. geo-tagging of the assets is done in all three stages.”

“Notes: to assess and measure the progress made by grassroots level institutions in achieving localized sdgs and thereby attaining sdg 2030, ministry has released a report on panchayat development index (pdi). panchayat development index would play a significant role for performance evaluation and progress assessment in achieving the lsdgs in rural area. under the revamped rgsa, ministry has been incentivizing best performing panchayats through national panchayats award (npa) by assessing their performance in the attainment of sdgs to generate positive competition among panchayats.”

“Notes: on the occasion of international day of persons with disabilities (pwd) on 3rd december, 2023, a new accessibility widget was launched at the igot karmayogi platform. the widget currently offers user-friendly features such as: screen reader, smart contrast, text spacing, dyslexia friendly, saturation, pause animations, and page structure. igot’s accessibility widget seeks to create an inclusive and equitable learning experience for all. igot karmayogi is a comprehensive online learning portal to guide government officials in their capacity-building journey.”

“Notes: garden reach shipbuilders and engineers delivered the largest survey vessel built in india, ins sandhayak to the indian navy on navy day 2023. ins sandhayak is the first in a series of four survey vessels (large) being built by grse. ins sandhayak is the first of four advanced survey vessels (large) or svls. it is a new version of a previous ship with the same name, which was a survey vessel in the indian navy from 1981 to 2021. these survey ships are capable of full-scale coastal and deep-water hydrographic survey of port and harbour approaches as well as the determination of navigation channels and routes.”

“Notes: niti aayog has been publishing the composite water management index (cwmi) since 2018. so far two editions cwmi (june 2018) and cwmi 2.0 (august 2019) have been published. subsequent edition of cwmi was prepared in august 2022 with delay due to the nationwide covid-19 situation. niti aayog will come up with a combined report from the third to sixth edition of the composite water management index.”
