” Notes:indian army has participated in the 21st khaan quest multinational military exercise in ulaanbaatar, mongolia from 27 july to 9 august 2024. co-sponsored by the u.s. indo-pacific command and hosted by the mongolian armed forces, khaan quest promotes regional peace and security. initially a u.s.-mongolia bilateral exercise in 2003, it became multilateral in 2008. the indian army, a regular participant, sends 40 personnel this year, including three female soldiers. the exercise focuses on peacekeeping operations, enhancing skills for future un peacekeeping missions.”

” Notes:goa shipyard limited (gsl) launched the first indigenously-built talwar class frigate, ‘triput.’ part of a 2016 india-russia deal, triput is among four admiral grigorovich class frigates, with two built in india via technology transfer. the indian navy already operates six of this class. ins triput, 124m long and 15.5m wide, is powered by four gas turbines, reaching speeds of 28 knots with a 3200-ton displacement. it features stealth-enhancing hull design, advanced weapons and sensors, an integrated platform and bridge management system, and a robust air defense system with vertical launch long-range surface-to-air missiles.”

” Notes:kargil vijay diwas, observed on 26 july, commemorates the indian army’s victory over pakistan in the 1999 kargil conflict. on its 25th anniversary, prime minister narendra modi visits the drass sector in ladakh to honor the martyrs at the kargil war memorial. the kargil war, fought from may 8 to july 26, 1999, saw pakistani forces disguised as mujahideen infiltrating indian posts. india’s operation vijay successfully evicted them. this conflict aimed to internationalize the kashmir issue and disrupt nh1a, a vital supply route for the indian army.”

” Notes:the finance minister announced nps vatsalya, a new scheme under the national pension scheme (nps) to help parents and guardians plan for their children’s future financial needs. parents can open an account for their minor children, with funds accumulating until the child turns 18. upon adulthood, the amount transfers to a standard nps account and can be converted into a non-nps plan. nps, a voluntary retirement scheme, enables individuals to build a retirement corpus through regular contributions. open to all indian citizens, including non-residents, nps invests in market-linked instruments, offering potentially higher returns than traditional fixed-income options.”

On 25 july 2024 the union minister for information and broadcasting ashwini vaishnaw announced the winners of the 10th national community radio award and inaugurated india’s 500th community radio station at the indian institute of mass communication in aizawl mizoram

” Gevra coal mine and kusmunda coal mine, blocks of chhattisgarh-based south eastern coalfields limited’s (secl) have secured the 2nd and 4th rank in terms of production volume in the list of the world’s top 10 largest coal mines released by worldatlas.com.

Gevra and kusmunda produced more than 100 million tonnes (mt) of coal annually accounting for about 10% total coal production of india. black thunder mine in the united states of america(usa) has been ranked the world’s largest coal mine. with 4 mines, indonesia dominates the top ten coal mines list.

Globally, china is the largest producer of coal. in 2022, china accounted for almost 52% of the coal production worldwide. india, the second-largest coal producer, had a global share of over 9%.”

” The reserve bank of india (rbi) has approved the appointment of krishnan venkat subramanian (kv manian) as the managing director(md) and chief executive officer (ceo) of federal bank limited under section 35b of the banking regulation act, 2013 for a period of 3 years with effect from september 23, 2024. krishnan replaces shyam srinivasan, the current md & ceo of federal bank whose term is set to end on september 22, 2024. previously, krishnan served as the joint md of kotak mahindra bank limited (kmbl) till april 30 2024.”

” On 23rd july 2024, president of estonia alar karis swore in kristen michal, chairman of the centrist reform party, as the new prime minister (pm) of estonia. he succeeded kaja kallas, who resigned as estonia pm on 15th july 2024 to become the high representative of the union for foreign affairs and security policy of the european union (eu). prior to this, kristen michal was serving as the minister of climate since april 2023.”

” The national film development corporation (nfdc), a public sector enterprise (pse) under the ministry of information and broadcasting (mib), and netflix india have signed a  memorandum of understanding (mou) to launch “the voicebox”, an upskilling program for voice-over artists in india.

The mou aligns with the vision of the nfdc and netflix to promote indian cinema, and nurturing talent in the media and entertainment industry. ’the voicebox’ offers recognition of prior learning (rpl) training for voice-over artists focusing on english, hindi, marathi, bengali, malayalam, tamil, telugu, and gujarati. pearl academy, india’s leading design institute will be the training partner for this program.”

” Tata aia life insurance company limited (tata aia), one of india’s leading life insurance companies, has secured the 6th position (out of the top 100 global companies) in the global million dollar round table (mdrt) rankings for 2024.

Tata aia registered the largest number of mdrt-qualified life insurance advisors in india with 2584 mdrt-qualified advisors and employees as of 31st december 2023, a 30.64% increase over the previous year. tata aia has achieved the largest number of mdrt members in india for the 2nd consecutive year.

Tata aia has the highest number of female mdrt qualifiers in india, with 1238 women mdrt advisors, ranking no.1 in india and no. 7 globally. mdrt, the premier association of financial professionals was founded in 1927 by 32 extraordinary life insurance producers.”

” On 22nd july 2024, national institution for transforming india (niti aayog)-backed atal innovation mission (aim) has signed a joint letter of intent (jloi) with world intellectual property organisation (wipo), one of the specialized agency of united nations (un). aim:  to develop programmes for innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual property (ip) for countries in the global south.

Union minister dharmendra pradhan, ministry of education (moe) and ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship (msde), government of india (goi) presided over the signing of the jloi between aim and wipo at niti aayog office in new delhi, delhi.

The program aim to enhance the better understanding of intellectual property rights (ipr) among various stakeholders such as: students, teachers, innovators and entrepreneurs of india. according to the global innovation index (gii) 2023 report, released by wipo, india had retained the 40th position among 132 economies featured in the report.”

” Indian railway catering and tourism corporation (irctc), a “mini-ratna” schedule b central public enterprise (cpses) under the ministry of railways (mor), has been upgraded as a ‘schedule a’ cpse.i.the significant upgrade coincides with the celebration of irctc’s 25th year of incorporation. irctc was incorporated in 1999.ii.irctc achieved a compound annual growth rate (cagr) of 50.63% in total income and 29.80% in profit after tax between fy 2021-22 and fy 2023-24.iii.for fy24 (2023-2024), irctc’s earned a total income of Rs 4434.66 crores with profit after tax (pat) of Rs 1111.26 crores and dividend of Rs 520 crores”

” On july 19, 2024, the union minister jyotiraditya madhavrao scindia, ministry of communications (moc) unveiled the theme of the 8th india mobile congress (imc) i.e. ‘the future is now‘. the theme highlights india’s central role in technological evolution and imc 2024, which is scheduled for october 15-18 at pragati maidan, new delhi, delhi. it will be co-hosted by the department of telecommunications (dot), moc and cellular operators association of india (coai), new delhi(delhi). at the event, dot announced conferment of pandit deendayal upadhyay telecom excellence awards 2023 for exceptional contributions in telecom innovations, telecom skilling, telecom services, telecom manufacturing, and telecom applications.click here to read more”

” Chandrayaan-3 mission team of indian space research organisation (isro) won the prestigious world space award for 2024, presented by international astronautical federation (iaf) for its significant contributions to space exploration. the award is given in recognition of the chandrayaan-3, india’s lunar mission historic achievement of soft landing near the lunar south pole. the award recognises the mission’s historic achievement of making india the first country to land near the lunar south pole. the award will be officially presented during the opening ceremony of the 75th international astronautical congress (iac) which will held in milan, italy on 14th october, 2024.the theme for the 75th iac will be. “responsible space for sustainability”.

” The european space agency (esa) has announced it plans to launch ‘rapid apophis mission for space safety (ramses)‘, a planetary defence mission, in 2028 to study the asteroid 99942 apophis, a near earth object (neo).  apophis is expected to pass within 20,000 miles of earth’s surface on 13th april  2029. ramses should be launched in april 2028 to allow for an arrival at apophis in february 2029. the ramses mission aims to study apophis to develop strategies for protecting earth from potential asteroid collisions. apophis, named for the demon serpent in egyptian mythology was discovered in 2004.”
