” On 21st june 2024, the government of india, in exercise of powers given under sub-section (3) of section 1 of the telecommunications act, 2023 (44 of 2023) has notified that the provisions of sections 1, 2,10 to 30, 42 to 44, 46,47,50 to 58, 61 and 62 of the said act will come into force from 26th june 2024.• the act has repealed the 138-year old indian telegraph act, 1885, and the wireless telegraph act (1933), and the telegraph wires (unlawful possession) act (1950).• the new act mandated that prior authorisation from the government will be required: to provide telecommunication services, establish, operate, maintain or expand telecommunications networks or possess radio equipment.• with the implementation of these notified sections of the act, the digital bharat nidhi will replace universal service obligation fund (usof), which was established under indian telegraph act, 1885.”
